Refunds and rescheduling

Last updated: [Date of launch]

In short: there are no refunds if you change your mind, but you can reschedule up to 48 hours before. If your artist cancels, you can pick a new date or get your deposit back.

What you pay through TatNav

A deposit of 20% of the price of your tattoo (your artist’s estimate, or the fixed price for flash), with a minimum of £60. It comes off the price of your tattoo.

A TatNav booking fee for each confirmed booking, paid with the deposit: £2.99, or £4.99 when the deposit is over £100 from 4 months after launch. When you join with a friend’s referral code, your first booking has no booking fee, and your friend gets one too once your first deposit is paid.

The rest of the price is paid directly to your artist in person on the day. It doesn’t go through TatNav. Payments in the app are processed securely by Stripe.

TatNav holds your deposit safely until the day of your appointment, and only then passes it to your artist. So if your artist cancels and you choose a refund, it’s sent back to you straight away.

Before you pay

Sending a request is free. You can withdraw it at any time before you pay, and if the artist declines, nothing is charged.

When the artist accepts, your slot is held for 48 hours. If the deposit isn’t paid in that time, the slot is released and nothing is charged.

Flash designs work in exactly the same way: the artist confirms your request, then you pay.

If you need to change your date

You can reschedule a confirmed booking in the app up to 48 hours before the appointment. Your deposit moves to the new date.

Your artist can also move the booking with at least 48 hours’ notice, and your deposit moves with it.

If you cancel

There is no refund of the deposit or booking fee if you cancel, because the artist has reserved the time for you and started preparing your design.

Less than 48 hours before the appointment, the booking can’t be moved. If you cancel or don’t turn up, the artist keeps the deposit.

You must be 18 or over and bring valid photo ID (passport or driving licence). If you are under 18 or can’t show valid photo ID, the artist can’t tattoo you, and this counts as you cancelling: the artist keeps the deposit and the booking fee isn’t refunded.

If your artist cancels or doesn’t turn up

If your artist cancels, you’ll be asked to choose in the app: pick a new date with the artist, or get your deposit back.

If you pick a new date, your deposit moves to it, and the usual 48-hour limit doesn’t apply.

If you choose a refund, your deposit is refunded to your original payment method. The booking fee is not refunded. Refunds usually reach your account within 5 to 10 working days, depending on your bank.

If your artist doesn’t turn up for your appointment, you get a full refund of your deposit. The booking fee is not refunded.

After your tattoo

A finished tattoo can’t be refunded, as it’s custom and permanent.

If you’re unhappy with the work or how it’s healing, talk to your artist first through TatNav messaging. If you can’t sort it out together, contact us and we’ll try to help. TatNav isn’t responsible for the tattoo itself, which is provided by the artist.
